A conversation I had the other day with a South Asian participant...pretty senior, mind you...I'll call him Mr A. He's really very very sweet, and terribly funny...
Mr A: You know, Eveeleva, I've taken lots of pictures and I'll be posting it up on my blog. So you can just download it off the internet.
Eveeleva: Cool! Do you facebook? You could also post them on facebook too!
Mr A: Oh yes, I do have a facebook account. But you know, I cannot just add anyone onto my account.
Eveeleva: Really? Will you add me as your friend?
Mr A: Of course I will. It's just that I have to be careful who I add as friends. The other day, my friend's wife added me as her friend. And you know, she POKED me!
Eveeleva: Really?
Mr A: Yes, you know. In my culture, it's not very appropriate to POKE people you know. Can you imagine if my friend finds out his wife has POKED me.
Eveeleva: Oh my! That IS terribly inappropriate. Don't worry Mr A. If you add me as a friend. I'll be sure NOT to POKE you!
