This is a follow-up to bling's 7 Jul post.
I too have been struck by PC-envy and the inadequateness of my equipment *cough cough*...specifically the speed (or lack thereof) of our LAN internet access.
I've discovered the internet stations provided for our visitors in the name of customer service are not restricted by the firewall! Yes indeed... we get raging Formula One speeds and no blocked sites!
Those of us who are turned on by data-driven research would be interested to know that researchers have shown that letting employees do some personal surfing at work leads to "better time management, stress reduction, improvement of skill sets and helping to achieve a balance between work and personal life." In fact they wrote a whole book out of it:

Perhaps people are finally realising there's a difference between time spent working and productivity.
Now where's the study saying work-time naps are also helpful to productivity?
