We did a Great Egg-Drop at the teambuilding session this morning.
Every group wrapped their egg up in straws and masking tape.
The Great Egg Drop is almost synonymous with indoor teambuilding exercises.
I've played this a gazillion times. At parties and at corporate teambuilding sessions.
Eggs are pretty tough. Once you wrap something around the egg that has some sort of cushion effect, it's not easy to crack it.
So the fun thing is to work with the different materials at hand.
Almost every Great Egg Drop uses synthetic, man-made materials. Invariably, we succeed in keeping the egg intact after a 1m - 1.5m drop.
I remember a session where we had an arsenal of glue, staples, string, etc. But no straws. I simply blew air into a large brown manila envelope to fluff it up. Then I put the egg inside and sealed it off with scotch tape. There were skeptics. But I insisted that that would be sufficient to protect the egg. In theory, anyway. (Hurrah for being domineering.) Well, it worked beautifully.
I'm just thinking that just once, we don't use any form of synthetic resources in the Great Egg Drop. We should have everyone stroll around in a park or a field. And the only rule will be to use completely natural materials from Mother Nature.
Then, we sit back and let creativity flow.
