Food Concerns

We hold programmes and seminars where we cater meals and tea for guests. We have to be very conscious of their dietary preferences.

Nowadays, more and more so, we incorporate a vegan element into our food options for these guests.

It's no longer a trend, a religious obligation or a quirk to be a vegetarian or a vegan. It has become a conscious lifestyle choice for many.

In being hospitable, we have to be aware of these sensitivities.

Slowly, without meaning to, I find myself moving towards pescetarianism.

That's probably alot to do with the fact that a chicken dish is served at every work meal and social gathering. Chicken is the most politically correct meat. I eat so much of chicken meat till I develop a conscious aversion to it.

In the course of work, I consciously scan food menus and lists that offer vegan-friendly options. Or at least vegetarian dishes. I push the restaurants and caterers to offer creative menus that include at least 2 or 3 vegetarian items.

What I find gratifying is that restaurants and caterers are quick to suggest alternatives or special bento sets for specific requirements without much additional costs.

That is one gracious gesture that I thorougly appreciate.
