Natural Lighting Preferred Please...

Went to check out a possible site for a retreat being planned for in August, and one of the 'best practice' in choosing a retreat venue has been to go for one with natural lighting.

But why choose natural lighting?

So to find the answer, I googled.... here's what I learnt abt natural lighting.

The scientific and medical communities are getting increasingly interested in the benefits of natural lighting in our buildings. There are documented benefits under increasing study including improvements to health, vision and mood -- not to mention the decrease in electric power used for lighting and the avoided air-conditioning loads of particular interest in commercial buildings.

Having natural sunlight has been shown to provide:
1. Lessened severity of clinical depression
2. Improvement of our moods and attitude
3. Boosts in test scores by school children
4. Increased productivity of office workers
5. The image of larger spaces indoors
6. Better actual color rendering (colors "true to the eye")
7. Reduced eyestrain in the workplace

Sometimes I wonder if it's the natural lighting or the natural view that's important....
